Amanda's Latest Quilt Complete

I finally got this quilt done. I had to take a row off due to the quilt backing shrinking just a little too much when I washed it. It will still easily cover her bed though. This project started when the batting in a comforter that my daughter had started to bunch up. When they made it, they did not secure the batting very well. It would all go to one end when washed. I ended up taking apart the comforter and then took my daughter shopping to add more fabrics. I still have enough leftover for another project. I may make a throw sized quilt for her. You can never have too many quilts! It was nice to be able to reuse the fabric from the comforter instead of just throwing it away. 

Some Recent Finishes

It has been a very busy few months but I am slowly getting caught back up. I have returned from overseas and now in the process of getting all of the tops quilted that I made while overseas and the tops that I had stacked up before I left (about 50 in all - 32 while overseas). Our guild's quilt show is at the end of October so I need to pick up the pace! My goal is to have all 50 of them done. I have busy gathering quilt backs and batting and have enough backing fabric for around 30 tops. I will probably go shopping in my stash and will find some yardage and piece some together. I also plan on piecing some scrap batting together as well. It will be a great way to use some things up!

 I really hope that I can start posting in my blog again now that I am home.  I really got away from it and I have missed posting. It will be good to get back into it!

So many quilts, so little time!

 

Bookcase and Fretwork Quilt Top Complete

These are the latest two quilt tops that I have finished. I should have four more tops completed in the next couple of weeks. The challenge is getting them laid out on the floor with limited floor space and keeping the floor clean enough to lay a quilt out, especially white fabric. Somehow I will make do! This week has been all about making blocks. It is easier to do that right now. It progress! 

Four More Quilt Tops Complete

It's been a busy couple of  weeks. I've managed to get four more quilt tops done. It's been a bit of challenge with limited space and limited time. I still have to add a border to the Hopscotch Revival Quilt. I may save that project for later when I get home. I will have the room to do there. 

Back in Quilting Business!

It is amazing how much I missed quilting after waiting two months to get a sewing machine shipped overseas. The first one I ordered is still missing and have since filed an insurance claim through the post office. I appreciate having the ability back in the states to get stuff quickly when needed. It is amazing how long some things take to get overseas. I had to finish the patriotic flag quilt top first. It was an easy project to start up with. 

I worked on the Rail Fence and Random Ohio Star quilt tops at the same time. It is kind of nice to work on two projects at once. It seems like I don't get bored and I can use one project as a leader and ender for the other one. I have quite a bit of catching up to do if I want to meet my quilting goal this year. I have plenty of projects cut and ready to sew together!

T-Shirt Rag Quilt Complete

I was commissioned to finish this t-shirt rag quilt. When I got it, everything was cut up, however, I had to do some trimming to get all of the blocks the same size. It is strange to finish up someone else's work. I wonder what they were planning and if how I finished it would have been the same way they would have. I think it turned out fairly decent. I would have probably done things a little different if I had started the project from the beginning.

Two Finished Quilts

I was able to get to quilts back from the quilter this week. 

It is nice to be able to actually finish a couple of quilts. Hopefully I can get some more done by the end of the month! I have a rag quilt that needs finished up. It shouldn't take too long to do. I still want to try and make one quilt per week this year. I know it is a lofty goal but feel like I can do it.
